What is the Heritage Boiler Association?
The Heritage Boiler Association (Alberta) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation, safe operation, and public education of heritage steam boilers and steam-powered equipment. We support owners, operators, and enthusiasts through training, certification, advocacy, and community events.
Who should become a member of the HBAA?
Membership is open to anyone with an interest in heritage steam boilers, including private owners, museums, agricultural societies, operators, restorers, and steam enthusiasts. Corporate memberships are available for organizations that operate or support heritage boiler equipment.
What does my membership include?
Membership provides access to member-only resources, training and certification information, association updates, and participation in HBAA activities and events. Members also support the ongoing preservation of Alberta’s steam heritage and the promotion of safe operating practices.
Renewing A Membership
When you renew your membership on our new site, you will be prompted to create your account.
This will allow you to create a password, enter your contact information and choose between a corporate or individual membership.
There will be an area for you to enter your current membership number which will be noted in our membership records.
If you need a password reset, to change your mailing or contact preferences, to view your purchases or to print an invoice, all of this will be available under your member account.

What services do you offer?
The HBAA works closely with regulatory bodies and inspectors to support heritage boiler certification and operator training. Certification requirements vary depending on the boiler type and use, and members can access guidance, documentation, and support through the Association to help navigate the process.
Engineering Service
The Heritage Boiler Association also offers engineering assistance for members who must re calculate their Maximum Allowable Working Pressure (MAWP) in accordance with AB-534 using the 6 year cycle.
